Welcome to Donji Milanovac!

The city of sun, roses and relaxation. The city of wonderful people and river. The city where you will always feel welcome and to which you will gladly return.

Donji Milanovac has always lived from the Danube and for the Danube. That’s the reason why both its history and its future cannot be separated from this great river.

We wish you pleasant moments and the best memories. Take the opportunity to get to know this charming town and its people. And first, take a walk around the town to get to know us better.

Get ready for local specialties and fishing stories you haven’t seen even in movies. Local fish specialties, polenta(boiled cornmeal) – ’mamaljiga’, grilled white cheese, ’plašinte’ are only a part of gastronomic offer. And if you go on a cruise on the Danube with local guides, you will enjoy the unreal nature, history but also incredible stories about Danube sturgeons or Beluga fish and the famous caviar.

We are proud to have so much to offer.

Donji Milanovac is a town settlement in the municipality of Majdanpek with 1 878 inhabitants. It is located in Donjomilanovacka basin and is an ideal place for rest and recreation.

Management office of the largest national park in Serbia- Public enterprise ’Nacional Park Đerdap’ is located here. It was designated a UNESCO global geopark. Get ready to explore the park’s most beautiful viewpoints and hiking trails under first degree protection. Certainly, don’t forget to come by the Visitor Center first.

This is truly a unique area that has always been inhabited. As a proof of that there is an   archaeological site called Lepenski Vir only 15 km away from Donji Milanovac. Go back to prehistoric times and meet the wonderful culture of Lepenski Vir. Find out how the Lepenci lived here in nature and with nature. You will be charmed by their life and you will have the opportunity to learn a lot of new things.

The Danube, that mighty river, has always been full of life, and that’s why we can talk about local history for days. But you definitely need to know that Donji Milanovac is a town that has moved three times but always remained faithful to its river. The history of Donji Milanovac is the history of the river and wonderful people and it is being recorded for over 400 years.

The guardian of history is also the Orthodox Church of St. Nicholas, which shares the fate with its residents. It also guards the burial place of the greatest Danube captain Miša Anastasijević, the most famous Porec resident who marked the 19th century of Serbian history.

If you decide to stay with us for a few days, you can find out everything about accommodation facilities at the Tourist Organization of the Municipality of Majdanpek.
